Whenever you realize that your drain is clogged, it is always just a common clog that is easily fixable by pouring down hot water on the drain. Some only require items you already have in your house, like baking soda and vinegar. However, there are times when you have already tried every natural remedy you can do to no avail. However, this could easily get out of hand, especially since you cannot really see whatever is happening on your pipes. Your walls and floor could have already been damaged.

Does the clog affect multiple places at once? If yes, then call a plumber. This means that your main drain is damaged. If the clog is only affecting one drain, then you could relax and try to fix it, as it might only be a small problem.

Is the clogged drain in a frequently used area? If it is in the bathroom, call a plumber straight away. This indicates wear and tear in your plumbing, which needs to be fixed right away.
